From "Tell out my soul" to "And can it be", the voices of those gathered on Friday evening at Woodlands for the Hugh Ashley Sing In certainly raised the roof of the Methodist Chapel. Guest organist Graham Wigmore accompanied those assembled with hymns chosen by members of the congregation, Graham also gave a solo rendition of "How Sweet the name", whilst Margery Shearing played the organ. Hugh Ashley was a superb compere sharing stories about those who had written the hymns along with a few amusing anecdotes. The Holtwood Mission Band, down in number due to a very special wedding on Saturday 19th May (no, not Harry's & Meghan's!) sang two very modern hymns which were both well received. The refreshments served in the hall afterwards were very much appreciated as there was many a dry throat in the house. A very enjoyable evening.
