Important dates for your diaries
Thursday 11th October at 7pm Church Council
Saturday 6th November A Discernment day is to be held on this day from 9.45am — 2pm. Its purpose is to reflect on the life of our Church and plan our Mission for God's work in the church and Wimborne. It is a chance for ALL to air their views, thoughts and feelings on the life of our church and the way forward. Coffee and a working lunch will be provided.
The Harvest service was a true act of thanksgiving and reflection with the church looking resplendent with Autumn coloured flowers and produce decorations and a sizeable congregation. Sincere thanks must go to the flower team for their dedication in producing such a display with their reduced numbers.
Thanks to everyone for their generous donations to the food bank. The equivalent of 4 full shopping trolleys plus some cash donations were taken to the Food bank and duly photographed by them! They asked for their appreciation to be fed back to everyone.
Hi Ten News
During the pandemic Hi Ten has met on a monthly basis via Zoom. However, in June we met outdoors and enjoyed a picnic on the Minster green and in July, in addition to our normal Zoom meeting, we attended one of Pauline's lovely garden tea events. This month we finally met inside and it was good to be back in Church.
We have changed our meeting time from the third Sunday in the month to the third Friday. We met just as the flower arrangers finished decorating the Sanctuary for the harvest festival so we were the first people to see how beautiful it looked. We began with a fish and chip supper before the children read us the story of Daniel. We considered what it means to be brave and how difficult it is for people in some parts of the world to be Christians. The children talked about people they considered brave and shared times when they themselves had been brave. There was a real buzz in the room and joy at being together again.
Why have we changed to a Friday? These days the children have many activities on Sunday including teams that play matches on Sunday mornings. We have had to recognise this. We appreciate that we will not be in Church at the same time as the congregation but we hope to find new ways to be part of the Church family. We would love more families to be in HI Ten so please tell us if you know of any who might like to join us especially if there are children aged five or over.
Jenny Jenkins and Margaret Shortall.
Flower Team Report Oct 2021
Despite the flower team being reduced to just four volunteers it has still been able to return to doing flowers in church again. We have certainly appreciated the support of donations towards a pedestal of fresh flowers on Sundays in memory of loved ones.
During August we enjoyed providing these for Sue Burt on 1st August, Mary Bennett on 8th August, Mary Wyatt on 13th August and Elizabeth Bloxham on 22nd August.
In September it was for John and Ruth Ramsden on 5th September and Mabel Card on 12th September.
Our Harvest Festival on 19th September was of necessity a more modest display than in previous years but hopefully our attempts at celebrating this festival by producing flower arrangements in autumn colours together with a colourful display of vegetables were enjoyed by everyone. Grateful thanks go to Mo and Mark for providing such a wonderful selection from their allotment.
Church Photo Display
As many will have noticed, we now have up-dated pictures of members and adherents back on display. However, we do know that we are missing a few, and would like to complete the display with all who should be there.
With this in mind, would anybody not included contact Brian Wilkinson or any Church Steward, with either a photo or, if not, a request for a picture to be taken, to allow us to complete the display.
-Coffee lounge from Monday — Friday 9.30a.m — 12md Helpers welcome
Scrabble to restart
You are invited to join us in the foyer on the first Thursday of the month for a pleasant and friendly game/s of Scrabble from 2 — 4pm. We play in groups of 2/3/4. Tea/coffee is provided. Small donations of £1 for Church Funds appreciated.
Readers' rota - Please consider adding your name to the list on the board near the kitchen.
Weekly notices will now be displayed on the screen prior to the start of services. Thanks to Richard for compiling these.
Please e-mail any items for November to Linda Bennett or give them to her personally in writing when next in church.
