The Church exists to make "Jesus known" – Matthew 28:18, "Go and make disciples of all nations baptising them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you." We do so by glorifying God in all that we do and "building one another up" – Thessalonians 5:11 and by biblical teaching to, "present everyone mature in Christ" – Colossians 1:28.
The disturbing and challenging days of the pandemic are now thankfully behind us but they have given us all the opportunity to consider carefully and prayerfully the work that over the years we have laboured with, the resources we have provided and the fruit it has produced. Our cry has been, "sharing God's love on the high street" and we have faithfully laboured to try and do so. Many of us felt prompted that we must seek afresh God's will for us as a community that proclaims the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are believing that with God's grace and in the power of the Holy Spirit, Highcliffe Methodist Church is now going forward into a new season of Christian witness and mission.
On Friday 22nd October 2021 the Church Council agreed to begin "Mission Partnerships" with the Christian mission organisations that have been introduced to the congregation over the past 12 months. We are therefore now actively supporting, with our financial resources, encouragement, participation and with prayer the following mission organisations. Each organisation will have an Advocate(s) who will encourage us by providing updates of prayer needs and regular news of their work.
The Pace Trust – who provide assemblies, Christian based RE lessons, clubs and groups for schools in the BCP area.
Compassion UK- Child sponsorship in some of the poorest and most deprived areas of the world. . See their work by clicking here.
Barnabas Fund – Aid and advocacy for the persecuted church, bringing hope to suffering Christians in parts of the world where it is physically dangerous to be following Jesus. See their work by clicking here.
We look forward to sharing with you in the days ahead how these new Mission Partnerships will be such a positive blessing both for our church and for those we are supporting. As well as the church, from its funds, financially supporting each partner each month, "Mission Envelopes" are available for you to add your personal offering in support of this work. Thanks to your generosity an additional £1,200 has been donated in the past 6 months. Details of how this additional money has helped the Mission Partners can be seen on each of their separate pages. accessible from the drop down menu "Mission Partnerships" above.
