Attending Viva Voca Concert, by Joyce

news 1

Want a great way to spend an afternoon/evening then if you get the opportunity go along to a Viva Voca concert as seventeen of us from Blandford Methodist Church Lunch Club did on Saturday 8th March at Wimborne Methodist Church.

None of us had seen this choir before and we weren’t sure what to expect but my what a varied program we were treated to. From the Beatles to songs from the Guys and Dolls musical, alongside two amazing pieces of classical music and words that depicted London’s fifty-two stations to the tune of the CanCan to name but a few. The pianist tinkled the ivories with dexterity and a skill to be admired whilst the lady conductor had the audience tittering with several of her introductions.

The choir comprising of ladies and gents dressed in delightfully appealing outfits which they changed for the second half smiled throughout the performance and looked as though they were enjoying themselves. Several songs had little twiddly bits added that had the audience tittering and that were very much appreciated.

In the interval a welcoming cup of tea and a yummy piece of cake were provided for those gathered. There was no charge for the concert, but donations of £618-35 were received, which will go to various good causes.

If you feel you have missed out on something special, then why not join the choir in Autumn when they will perform deliver a completely new program.
