On Friday 11 March, Lunch Club held an Easter Lunch. In the morning David, Margaret and Rona set up the tables. Joyce had left everything we needed in boxes at their home which David brought down to the church. We decorated the tables with alternate blue and yellow table clothes with an Easter themed table runner, an Easter Egg and card at each place setting, little chocolate eggs in a basket in the middle of the table along with a bottle of Shloer.
On arrival everyone was delighted to be told by David that there was no charge that day. We enjoyed roast chicken, roast potatoes and parsnips, sprouts, carrots and mashed swede, followed by a Jaffa cake trifle prepared for us by Nadia, Mark and one helper. Then Nadia served tea and coffee with iced lemon cupcakes.
We all had a happy time but it was tempered with sadness when Rona read out a message on Joyce’s behalf, sadly telling us that Lunch Club would pause for a while until she felt that her family up north were on a better footing. She will be returning there after a short time back in Blandford. We assured everyone that they would be informed as soon as we had a restart date. Everyone was understanding and sent Joyce their love. It was a beautiful sunny day and everyone left happily enough having had a lovely meal and a chat.
Hopefully we can reopen Lunch Club again in the near future.
