Shoe Box Appeal

This year, for the first time, the Milford on Sea Methodist Church took the decision to support Operation Christmas Child run by Samaritan’s Purse. The objective being to provide a shoebox full of gifts to be given to a child at Christmas. They are sent around the world by plane, riverboat and motorbikes to children in some of the most isolated areas of the world.

Avril Armstrong, one of the members of our congregation, was the driving force behind the project and set out with a target of filling 4 shoeboxes. In the end, with the help of some generous donors and others who helped with the decoration and filling of the boxes, we ended up with 31! Avril is shown in the picture with all the boxes.

In addition, we sought donations to help with the costs of transporting the boxes to their final destinations. We raised £120 which was matched by an equivalent donation from church funds so an amount of £240 was sent to Samaritan’s Purse.

Our thanks to Avril and all those who supported her. We know what the target is for next year!
