Blandford Holiday at Home April 2022

hh01hh04hh03hh02

After a two-year break, Holiday at Home at Blandford Methodist Church was once more revived. On Friday 8th April, twelve Lunch Club folk gathered in the church for a day of Easter fun, craft activities and games.

Folk entered into the spirit of the Egg Competition, the theme being the Platinum Jubilee; there were hysterics over the basket weaving and a level head was needed for the cloth bunny making. Throughout the day people participated in various icebreakers, silly games, as well as enjoying homemade Easter biscuits, chocolate buns and lunch cooked by Nadia and her helpers.

Pauline spoke of an experience she once had on a retreat. In the middle of August, she had to contemplate the Easter story in particular the time early on Good Friday after our Lord had been arrested. When he was trussed up like a chicken, spat at and abused. And suddenly after much thought and prayer she realised the only thing she could have done for our Lord was wipe the spit from his eye. It was a very moving story to which everyone listened intently.

The day just flew by and before long it was time to gather up the goodies and head home with these words ringing in their ears there will be another Holiday at Home in the Summer.
