What can be done with a retractable broom handle, a clean paint tin, bubble wrap and the old basket from a freezer. Well if you are Alan Dymond you could produce a fantastic apple picker as shown in the images.

The cooking apples on the Manse tree were out of reach, so Alan designed this contraption to remedy the situation. Genius or what? There are now some very happy folk enjoying apple pie, apple crumble, apple crisp, apple cake. You name it — the sky's the limit.

Thanks Alan; you're a star.
