A Circuit Service was held at Verwood Methodist Church on Sunday 24 March 2019, to recognise the work of the local preachers. Without their loyal support, the circuit would find it hard to cover all the many services each Sunday.
Members across the circuit came from Brockenhurst in the east to Blandford in the west to witness the presentation of long-service certificates to four of our dedicated Local Preachers – Grahame Downer from Blandford Church (50 years), Colin Besant from Holtwood (40 years), Christine Thompson (40 years) and Heather Morgan (30 years), both from Wimborne.
Prior to the presentation, each gave a brief resume of their call to preach – a common theme for all of them was that their fathers had all been Local Preachers!
The church was packed and it was a joyous occasion, with the singing led by an augmented Worship Band, together with traditional piano and organ.
Towards the end of the service, all Local Preachers, Ministers and Worship Leaders were invited to come to the front of the church – it was an impressive sight.
