Barry and Becky send this update about Future Pillars Zambia:
We would like to wish you well in 2021 and hope that you are finding ways to cope with a very restricted existence thanks to Boris' response to COVID. We know that some of you have had or are about to have your first jab of the vaccine and, for all of us, there is a light at the end of the tunnel, albeit a rather long one.
You may recall, back in early November, FPZ ran a quiz on-line courtesy of Zoom. Our intention was to have a bit of fun, have a bit of a mental challenge and, at the same time raise some cash for the new building project in Kabwe. Well, that event was successful according to the feedback and over £1000 went into the building pot. Since then, we have signed the contracts and construction started just over a week ago – see photos below. We should also add that the 4th container was picked up very early on Saturday morning – in the dark and the rain – and is now awaiting the long journey to Zambia, starting from Southampton on Friday. We continue to be knocked out by the level of support and encouragement we receive.
Responding to requests for a repeat event, we are inviting teams to take part in a St Valentine's Eve Quiz on Saturday 13th February. The parameters are very similar to the November quiz, although the questions will be very different – naturally! Details of the quiz will follow very shortly.
