Milford celebrated its Harvest Thanksgiving service on Sunday 13 October. The service was led by our Minister, Revd Andrew Pottage and his theme was "Charity begins at home". We sung some of the traditional harvest hymns, "For the fruits of all creation", and "Come, you thankful people, come" as well as some which were less well known or new to us: "God said, God said world", "God whose farm is all creation" and "Autumn days when grass is jewelled". A video from All We Can was shown which told the story of Cynthia Fahn in Liberia and how she went to school and gained literacy skills such that she was able to go on and become a tailoring graduate and now runs her own sewing business.
Many gifts of produce and toiletries were donated for the work of the New Forest Basics Bank and you can see in the picture, Pete and Sue delivering five crates to the Lymington base. Financial donations were also received and will be passed on to both the New Forest Basics Bank and All We Can.
After the service many of us stayed to enjoy an appetising lunch of Mediterranean chicken with vegetables followed by cherry and almond tart.
