On Friday 1st June, 44 members and friends of Wimborne's Open Forum had their annual outing – this year to Winchester. Our luxury coach deposited us alongside the statue of King Alfred in the High Street, and we had just over two hours to explore the town. Many went to visit the cathedral, others browsed the shops – in particular the shoe shops! – and others just admired the architecture. Nearly everyone found an interesting coffee shop for a welcome drink and perhaps "something to keep them going"!
Our coach then took us to the village of Hursley, and the Dolphin Inn, where we all enjoyed a delicious meal. Our drive home meandered through the New Forest, cleverly avoiding the congestion at Ringwood on a Friday afternoon! For many, seeing ponies and donkeys on the verge was quite a highlight.
Our thanks go to those who organised such a splendid trip.
