Advent greetings! Welcome to our Advent 2021 resources, I pray that you will be blessed by them as we enter together this beautiful season of longing for the coming of our Lord Jesus. We use the traditional and appointed verse for this special day – Luke 21:25-36 concerning the second coming of Jesus in power, glory and majesty. For Advent in general and this Sunday in particular we must ask ourselves the question – am I prepared for the Lord's return? The video contains the prayer written by Thomas Cranmer, the leading figure in the English Reformation, my short reflection on the passage and concludes by singing "Come thou long expected Jesus" which for us today is our heartfelt prayer and longing for Jesus to come again.
The Worship sheets provide additional prayers and songs for the occasion and the preaching notes will enable you to go deeper into the subject of the second coming and some context to the passage and the words of Jesus. Jean Davies writes a very engaging Bible study and with this being such an essential passage for our eternal futures I encourage you to join in with this weeks "At Home" groups (these groups meet by Zoom and are for everyone, irrespective of where you are or who you know -to receive the joining code please send me an email).
I pray that these four weeks of Advent will be for us all a time of reflection as well as a time of rejoicing and celebration as we worship together our Lord Jesus Christ.
